Much has been written about how mortgage resets (loans that were taken out with a low short term interest rate, only to rise to a higher value at a later date) have added fuel to an already large housing market bonfire.

However, the data on foreclosures and defaults are giving investors the impression that things may be slowly getting better. Home sales are picking up, prices are going up – or at least have stopped the free fall. Well, before you get too excited, take a look at the following chart:
